GENETIC ETHICS

GENETIC ETHICS
For Valdemir Mota de Menezes, the Scribe.

Every profession has a code of ethics, and this document is extremely important for us to establish rules and boundaries for each sector of society. Thus, there is the Military Code to standardize military activities, nations sign treaties on all forms of international relations, are treated as: Treaty on War, where it is forbidden to use chemical weapons, among others, for its use not only reach the enemy army, as civilians and all living creatures of the region into conflict. Agreements on the use of Atomic Energy, is also debated between the potential to prevent the indiscriminate use of renewable energy. Doctors have codes of ethics that determine how far one can go with their medical interventions.

It is not the fact of mankind achieve given power, she should use it indiscriminately. Police to investigate and get to the offender, can not be worth all the means, there are legal limits establishing rules regarding searches, seizures, interrogations, arrests and preventive temporary.

In the field of biology and biotechnology should also have rules to establish what can be done and what is unethical. The genetic experiments and the use of indiscriminate genetic manipulation can bring humanity to madness, folly and madness. So I think that we should not manipulate nature to the point of imposing posture vain choosing the sex of the child, the color of hair and eyes.

Our interference in nature, too, has brought us many misfortunes and still not close the account of how many abuses: The indiscriminate use of electro-magnetism, pesticides, preservatives in the food, hormones, cosmetics, the cosmetic surgeries changing courses of rivers, wetlands of grounds. And so on ...

Not because we have a gun in his waistband that we have an obligation to use it. So too is in biotechnology, we can not make use of all this just because we can.
